The New England Patriots might be 9-2, but quarterback Tom Brady believes it's too early to start thinking about the Super Bowl. Brady also spoke about looking forward to playing next week against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, where he's played only once in his 15 seasons as a pro.
Brady's comments followed New England winning their seventh straight game in a 34-9 rout of the Detroit Lions on Sunday. While some believe next week's game against Green Bay could be a preview of the upcoming Super Bowl, Brady admitted it's far too early to start thinking about that.
"We are so far from [the Super Bowl]," Brady said Monday during his weekly radio interview on WEEI, according to ESPN. "We have so many games [left]. If we are lucky enough to make it there, no one ever cares who we play. But that's so far down the road. We think about the one game we have ahead of us, which is a good opponent.
"We have nine wins. We've done a good job getting ourselves to this position. This is when the weather turns, the mental toughness, the discipline, how much we've improved really comes into play."
New England fans went into panic mode after the Patriots' 42-14 blowout loss at Kansas City on Sept. 29. Since then, Brady has thrown for 2,207 yards and 22 touchdowns to just four interceptions.
Green Bay (8-3), meanwhile, stands the best chance of snapping New England's seven-game streak. Brady, though, sounded excited just for the opportunity to play at the famed Lambeau Field again.
"It's fun going to Lambeau," he said. "I've only been there once. I think I've been there for a preseason game, but only once in the regular season, and we won, which was great. But I'd love to get to 2-0."
Kickoff is on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
