Experts are predicting that Apple iPhone sales are going to hit a record high this holiday season.
Apple is predicted to sell 71.5 million iPhones during the current quarter, according to an investors report obtained by Apple Insider.
If these numbers play out as predicted Apple will see a 40 percent increase over the 51 million iPhones sold during the final quarter of 2013 and an 82 percent jump over the 39.3 million sold last quarter, CNET reported.
KGI, one of the top sources for Apple leaks, said they expect estimates Apple will sell 41.6 million iPhone 6 models, 15.1 million iPhone 6 Plus models, 8.8 million iPhone 5s models and 4.3 million iPhone 5c models during the holidays.
In general holiday spending on mobile devices and other consumer electronics is expected to rise by 2.5% this holiday season, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.
The iPhone 6 was an attempt by Apple to compete with its competitors who mostly all offered a large-screened device. Apple's recently launched device is shooting the company's sales back up to the top.
Apple sales are expected to drop after the holidays, revealed KGI, following the typical post-holiday trend seen in electronics among other products.
