ISIS American Jihadist Threatens To Behead Former Homeland Security Advisor Over Twitter

The President of the Counter Extremism Project, Fran Townsend, has reportedly received threats that she will be beheaded by a self-inscribed Islamic State sympathizer and extremist on Twitter, Breitbart reported via a press release from CEP.

Townsend, a former Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor to President George W. Bush, was intimidated on social media through a Twitter account belonging to Mujahid Miski, an identity that is believed to be the alias of a suspected American jihadist whose actual given name is Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan.

After Hassan, who is wanted by the FBI and is considered to be a serious and credible threat to national security by CEP, issued the threat on Friday, his Twitter account was immediately removed. CEP had directly corresponded with the social networking site and requested his tweets to be taken down in at least 12 days.

However, there have been other instances in the past where the terrorist had taken to social media to issue violent threats against high-profile individuals, according to Breitbart.

In one instance, Hassan had praised the gruesome slaughter of five Jews by two Palestinian terrorists at a synagogue in Jerusalem on Twitter. "Allahu Akbar, 5 Jews were sent to hell by two brave Muslims. Allahu Akbar, If only every Muslims could kill 1 Jew, everything would change," the tweet read.

Currently, there are approximately 14 million Jews in the world compared to 1.6 billion Muslims, who make up about 23 percent of the entire world's population.

Prior to being banned from Twitter on Friday, two accounts associated with Hassan were suspended twice for making numerous beheading and death threats before he returned to social media to threaten Townsend over her beheading.

CEP, a bipartisan organization dedicated to identifying and combating global extremism in all its forms, recently launched a Digital Disruption campaign, which seeks to find and expose extremist Twitter accounts.

A link to tweets from their campaign can be found by searching Twitter under the hashtag #CEPDigitalDisruption.

Back in October, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann was also provided with a "limited" security detail after an online threat was issued against her by the Islamic State in a new video, Politico reported.

Although the specific nature of the threat was not disclosed by federal law enforcement officials, the U.S. Capitol Police's Dignitary Protection Division had provided the congresswoman with temporary protection, a 24-hour protection known to be granted to members of Congress when their safety is being threatened, according to multiple law enforcement officials familiar with the situation.
