Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "Birdman" received six nominations for the 30th annual Independent Spirit Awards, the most of any film, it was announced today.
Inarritu's sixth feature film stars Michael Keaton as a struggling actor, who was once famous for portraying the role of the titular superhero, trying to resurrect his career on Broadway. It is nominated for best feature, male lead (Keaton), director (Inarritu), supporting female (Emma Stone), supporting male (Edward Norton) and cinematographer (Emmanuel Lubezki).
The other best feature nominations are "Boyhood," "Love Is Strange," "Selma," and "Whiplash."
Three films,"Boyhood," "Nightcrawler," and "Selma," received five nominations each, while "Love Is Strange" and "Whiplash" were rewarded with four nods.
