Google Using Huge Billboard in Times Square to Promote Android, Chrome, Nexus Products

Google plans to market its new products with what is reportedly the biggest digital billboard in the U.S.

The billboard, which stands in Times Square, measures 25,000 square feet, which covers an entire block, and comes with a pixel density of 2,368 x 10,048, a greater resolution than the average 4K display by 15 million pixels, according to Tech Times.

The goal for the search giant is to promote its Android, Chrome and Nexus devices. New products coming out soon include the Nexus 6 phablet, Nexus 9 tablet and the Nexus Player.

"This is the largest billboard on Broadway ever," a Clear Channel spokesperson said. "[And] the largest digital billboard in America."

The billboard, located on Broadway between 45th Street and 46th Street, went live Monday and will let the public play an interactive Android game, Tech Times reported. Players will be able to create custom Androidify characters that are made into T-shirts and postcards, and the characters will at some point appear on the billboard, with Google hoping to show 25,000 of these characters each day.

Screen time will be donated to Charity Water, the World Wildlife Fund and other nonprofit organizations.

Google's use of the billboard is a result of a long-term deal with Vornado Realty Trust, The Verge reported. While the exact price of the agreement has not been revealed yet, it is reportedly worth millions.

Google will use the billboard for advertisement until Jan. 31, 2015.
