Microsoft Updates Bing Maps With Additional 270 TB Of Bird’s-Eye Imagery; Expands Venue Maps

Microsoft continues to keep pace in a race with Google Maps by adding 270 terabytes of Bird's Eye imagery to Bing Maps database.

Bing announced Tuesday that it had added 270 terabytes of Bird's-Eye data in Bing Maps in a bid to be a step ahead of its competitors' 3D mapping capabilities. Microsoft also expanded the Venue Maps and added a new "Report a problem" feature as a part of Bing Maps update.

Microsoft's Bing Bird's-Eye data currently covers 1,452,958 sq kilometers around the world, according to the company, which is equivalent to half a petabyte or 524,288 GB of data. Most of the Bird's-eye updates were made in the United States while a few were made in Europe and Canada too (as pictured below).

In addition, Bing also introduced a new "Report a problem" feature on every location, so users can report any corrections about the location or the information about the given venue. Simply by clicking on the venue and selecting the option "Report a problem" will guide the users to send their corrections and also add comments.
