Snow Plow Operator Traps New York Boys Under Snow For Hours (VIDEO)

Two boys who had gone out to build a snow fort were inadvertently trapped for several hours under a snow bank in Newburgh, New York, according to NBC News.

The boys, 11 and 9 years old, were outside building a snow fort when a snow bank fell onto them.

The snow plow operator had been clearing a parking lot, but didn't see the boys on the other side because of the newly fallen 6 inches of snow.

Both of the children have been taken to the hospital to be kept under observation. They were conscious upon arrival, but suffered from exposure to the cold.

According to authorities, the boys' parents became worried after the two did not return home from playing, NBC reported.

The parents decided to call the police at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday after searching for them.

The boys were found around 2 a.m. by officials searching a snow bank at a health center nearby.

The officers saw a shovel that was half buried, which lead them to search the area around the shovel, according to NBC.

The officer then took the shovel and started to dig, and eventually saw a small boot. Other officers then joined in, some digging with bare hands, and the boys were found.
