It's no secret the Redskins is a team name that offends many Americans, most notably Native Americans.
Couple that with Thanksgiving Day, something else that Native Americans don't exactly favor, and a bonehead social media manager, and you get the perfect storm of early holiday social media controversy.
The NFL franchise sent out an uncomfortable tweet yesterday wishing fans a happy Thanksgiving.

In the past few seasons the franchise and owner Dan Snyder have come under fire for refusing to change the name of the team. Some national newspapers do not even publish the team name anymore.
Comedy Central's hit show "South Park" even took the task of ridiculing the team and its offensive name not too long ago.
The best part of all this holiday irony though? The tweets the Redskins account received in return. ESPN's Bomani Jones put it perfectly.
