Celebrities are calling for a shopping boycott on Black Friday today in protest of the grand jury's decision to not proscecute police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.
The campaign began with grassroots group Blackout for Human Rights which aims to "make Black Friday a nationwide day of action and retail boycott."
By boycotting stores, Americans will "raise awareness that builds and maintains pressure on the instruments of power until we are satisfied that the current threat has passed," the grassroots group said.
Celebrities joined the boycott promotion, using the hashtag #BlackoutBlackFriday.
