No. 2 Wisconsin escaped Georgetown on Thursday with a 68-65 win to make it six straight. The Badgers rallied in the second half, thanks in part to sophomore forward Nigel Hayes's fantastic tip-in with 20 seconds left in regulation. Junior forward Sam Dekker continued his strong start to the season with 17 points, and Hayes finished with 15.
"I have bruises, and I was watching," Badgers coach Bo Ryan said, via ESPN. "That's how hard we were playing each other."
Oklahoma (4-1), meanwhile, bounced back from their sole loss of the season with three straight wins. Their latest victory came Thursday against Butler in a convincing 59-46 win. Junior guard Isaiah Cousins led the team with 13 points while adding eight rebounds, an junior forward Ryan Sprangler led the rebounding effort with 10 boards.
"Our guys' awareness defensively was as good as it's been all year," said Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger. "We really had five guys working together, which is what you're supposed to do on the defensive end."
That win earned them a chance to take home the Battle 4 Atlantis trophy, and the team is more than excited at the opportunity to upset Wisconsin.
"That's what we came here for. That was our goal," Cousins said of winning the tournament. "We're striving for greatness."
