Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent little time between their August nuptials and starting their new movie together about a couple in a bad marriage. Friends warned the newlyweds against making a film about such a touchy subject.
"A lot of friends of ours thought it was ... they didn't say a bad idea but they asked us a few times if we were sure we wanted to do that," the 39-year-old actress told Australia's "Today" show.
Jolie also directed the movie called "By the Sea," which is set in France in the mid-1970s. She plays Vanessa, a former dancer, and Pitt plays her husband Roland, an American writer.
"We did a very small drama about family, about marriage in fact. A drama about a bad marriage," the Oscar-winning actress said.
The famous couple first met on the set of their last movie together, "Mr. And Mrs. Smith," in 2005. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time of filming and Jolie had been divorced from her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton for almost two years.
"We hadn't acted together for 10 years so we decided we'd do it again," Jolie said.
The couple spent seven years together before they announced their engagement in 2012. During that time, Pitt became a part of Jolie's growing family.
He first adopted her two adopted children Maddox and Zahara in 2006. The couple welcomed their first child together on May 27 of that year, a daughter Shiloh. Jolie adopted her fourth child Pax in 2007 and Pitt adopted him in 2008. They then welcomed a set of twins in 2008, son Knox Leon and daughter Vivienne Marcheline.
