Black Friday: Ferguson Protesters Arrested At Retailers Nationwide

Arrests were made at retailers country-wide yesterday as consumers fought for the best Black Friday sales.

In St. Louis, Ferguson protesters shifted their gears from the grand jury's decision in the Michael Brown case, where officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for fatally shooting the black teen, to the shopping malls that were opening on Thanksgiving Day.

The St. Louis protests led to several mall closures and 17 arrests: 15 for disturbing the peace and impeding the flow of traffic, one for resisting arrest, and the last one for assault, reported Fox News.

In Seattle, like most of the nation, protesters occupied the streets, malls and public transit stations in protests of the Ferguson grand jury decision.

Protesters made their way into Westlake Mall, chaining the doors closed and shutting down the Metro station. From there they moved on to occupy the top floor of nearby Pacific Place, reported USA Today.

The mall closed early and five were arrested for assaulting officers and damaging an officer's bicycle.

Chichago was also a big city for arrests Friday, as at least five people outside Macy's flagship store were taken in by police after over 150 protesters were blocking traffic, reported USA Today. Activists say they were looking for more transparency from police, calling the protests "a day of awareness and engagement."

Arrests also took place in Indianapolis where police arrested a man for starting a brawl in a parking lot. It's unclear what started the fight, but when police came to break up the fight the man preceded to attack the officer. The man's girlfriend jumped in the brawl when she arrived, leading to her arrest as well, reported New York Daily News.
