Melanie Brown, a.k.a. Mel B, explored her options for an intimate relationship before settling down with husband Stephen Belafonte. She dated a woman for four years who she met at her child's school.
"I did have a four-year relationship with a woman," the former Spice Girl told The Guardian. "But I've been very happily married for seven years to a penis. An amazing guy."
The "penis" belongs to Belafonte, who she married in 2007. Mel B named the woman as Christa Parker, a mother of two. Her children attended the same school as Brown's daughter Phoenix in Los Angeles.
"Well, you know what I mean. But I've definitely not been shy or been one to hold back. If I wanted to try something, I did. I had a girlfriend. So what?" she said.
She held little back in her interview with The Guardian. She divulged that she and Belafonte have sex almost five times a day, but shot down rumors that they have an open relationship.
"No, me and my husband are very tight and solid," the mother-of-three said. "But will be the first one to compliment a woman, to say to my husband, 'Oh my God, look at her legs,' or, 'Doesn't she look stunning?' I do think women are gorgeous. Crazy but gorgeous."
Mel B has full custody of her three children, all from separate fathers. Her first child Phoenix came from her previous marriage to Jimmy Gulzar. Comedian Eddie Murphy fathered her middle child Angel, and Belafonte is the father of her three-year-old Madison.
Murphy forced the mother of his child to have a paternity test before he would take responsibility for Angel. Their relationship has improved since their rocky start.
"We go over there as a family, we have dinners together, everything is fine... now," Mel B said. "He's a great guy. Look, we fell in love with each other, we had a gorgeous child together. Some of my friends don't even see their exes and they've got kids together."
Mel B sits on the judge's panel for "America's Got Talent," and recently replaced Nicole Scherzinger as the fourth judge on "The X Factor" in the U.K.
