Garth Brooks Makes Ellen DeGeneres, Studio Audience Cry (Watch)

When Garth Brooks recently appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he created an emotional moment for everyone in the audience--including DeGeneres. While Brooks performed his new single "Mom," the tears started flowing for everyone.

In explaining the song, the superstar country performer noted, "this is a conversation that goes on between God and this unborn child that's going down to Earth, and when God describes what a mom is, it just kills me," Brooks explains, shaking his head. "I'm gonna try to get through this. Forgive me if I don't ... I'm a mama's boy."

Then he launched into the song's opening lines:

Little baby told God, hey I'm kind of scared.
Don't really know if I want to go down there.
From here it looks like a little blue ball
That's a great big place and I'm so small.

The song, written by hit songwriters Wynn Varble and Don Sampson, has a poignant chorus:

So hush now baby, don't you cry
'Cause there's someone down there waiting whose only goal in life
Is making sure you're always gonna be alright
A loving angel tender, tough and strong
It's almost time to go and meet your mom.

Brook's newest album "Man Against Machine," which "Mom" appears on, is out now.
