NCAAF Football Rumors: Florida Gators Offer Ole Miss Coach Hugh Freeze Top Job

The University of Florida has reportedly made an offer to Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze to take over as the Gators' new head coach, SB Nation reports. The offer contains a reported base salary of $4.2 to $4.3 million per year.

SB Nation also reports that Ole Miss is set to counter Florida's offer with an increase in Freeze's salary to the $4 million range.

Freeze is currently in the third year of a four-year contract that pays him $3 million per season. Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork has said recently that the school was trying to renegotiate Freeze's contract but the process would not be completed until the end of the year.

Former Florida head coach Will Muschamp received $2.73 million annually from the school during his tenure. Freeze is worth the salary bump.

The Rebels head coach has compiled a 24-14 record in three seasons with Ole Miss, which currently rank 13th in the AP Top 25.
