Harvard Student Who Fell Naked Through Airport Ceiling To Get Mental Health Evaluation

A man accused of falling naked through the ceiling of a Boston airport before attacking an elderly man has agreed to undergo a mental health evaluation, the Associated Press reported Monday.

On Nov. 22, Cameron Shenk, a 26-year-old Harvard University student, allegedly fell through a space in the ceiling inside the women's bathroom at Logan International Airport, which he crawled into after stripping naked.

He then fled the bathroom located in the airport's Terminal C and bit off part of an 84-year-old man's left ear, according to CBS Boston. He also reportedly tried choking the victim with his own cane.

Shenk was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and lewd and lascivious conduct.

The Harvard Extension School student was scheduled for a hearing on Monday but instead was ordered released into the custody of his father after he agreed to be mentally evaluated, the Boston Herald reported. Once he is released Tuesday he will live under house arrest and submit to random drug tests until his Dec. 23 probable cause hearing.

It is not clear if whether or not Shenk was under the influence of drugs during the airport incident. His lawyer, Francis O'Brien Jr., told the East Boston District Court judge that Shenk "understands the ramifications...understands the magnitude of the situation," the Boston Herald reported.
