The Cincinnati Reds play the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. The game starts at 2:20 p.m. ET. You can watch the Reds-Cubs live stream or listen to audio here.
Cincinnati looks to make it three straight wins in the series on Wednesday. The Reds (39-26) have owned the series thus far, winning 6-2 in Game 1 and 12-2 in Game 2. That could change when Cubs pitcher Travis Wood gets the start.
He's had a quality start in all but one of his last 12 outings, according to the Associated Press. His only subpar performance came last month against his former team, the Reds. To that end, Wood hasn't had much luck of late against his former team; a win on Wednesday would give Wood his first win in five starts versus Cincinnati.
It'd also end Cincinnati's 11 straight wins at Wrigley Field.
"He's pitched like an All-Star. They are not just quality starts, (he's giving up) one or two runs, not three," Cubs manager Dale Sveum told reporters. "The biggest thing is he's able to execute his pitches. He's able to throw to his arm side and stick to a game plan."
Wood's arrival in Chicago has given the Cubs (25-37) a solid boost. He's posting an NL-leading .193 opponents' batting average, and he's gone at least six innings while allowing three or fewer runs in 11 of his 12 starts. The 26-year-old pitcher also opened the season with nine straight quality starts, the best such stretch by a Cubs pitcher since 1908 when Mordecai Brown had 11.
Still, Wood can't seem to find his groove against the Reds. He pitches a 5.25 ERA against Cincinnati.
"It's tougher to pitch against them - it's tougher to take when they beat you like that," he told reporters. "... It's frustrating when it doesn't work out."
Cincinnati, meanwhile, is getting used to winning in Chicago.
"It's pretty cool. We're comfortable here," Reds slugger Todd Frazier told reporters. "For some reason, we do like playing here in Chicago, but we're happy go lucky. It's pretty fun, it gets us back on the winning track. We got two more to go, we're trying to get the sweep."
The Reds have won 18 of their last 21 games at Wrigley Field. Mike Leake (5-3, 2.93) is scheduled to start for Cincinnati on Wednesday.
