"Suicide Squad" is closing in on some impressive additions to its ensemble cast with Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Jared Leto all thought to be in advanced negotiations for roles in the film.
Will Smith is also thought to be in discussions with Warner over a potential role, while Cara Delavingne has also been linked to the production. It has also been floated down the river that Jesse Eisenberg may reprise his "Batman vs. Superman" role as Lex Luthor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, pre-production will begin on the film in February at the Pinewood Toronto studios before cameras begin rolling in Toronto between mid-April and September.
The "Suicide Squad" team, also known as "Task Force X," was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru, and first appeared in "Brave and the Bold No. 25." The most recent version of the squad includes the characters Deadshot, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Harley Quinn. The film will feature this motley collection of supervillains teaming up on behalf of the government in exchange for the opportunity to wipe their very dirty slates clean.
Directed by David Ayer, "Suicide Squad" will hit the big screens on August 5, 2016.
