It's official! After months of speculation and rumor, Warner Bros. finally announced the star-studded cast for "Suicide Squad." Will Smith, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney will make up the ensemble.
The studio made the announcement on Tuesday, Variety reports. The actors have long been rumored to join the superhero film, which is slated for an August 2016 release. Sources told Variety that Jesse Eisenberg could reprise his role as Lex Luthor from Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and the studio is still casting for Amanda Waller, the leader of the team.
Reportedly, Oprah Winfrey is the top contender but Warner Bros. is also eyeing Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
"The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one," said Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman. "We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer's amazing guidance, giving new meanings to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
"Suicide Squad" is expected to begin filming in April in Toronto. The official cast and the characters each actor will play is below:
