It is a relief to hear that Benedict Cumberbatch loves Sherlock Holmes just as much as his fans do. When stars of his caliber reach that "next level" of fame they typically leave the shows that made them famous behind...but Benedict Cumberbatch isn't just any other celebrity. In a recent interview, the actor talked at length about the BBC television role that brought him so much fame, dispelling any concerns that he might get too big for the show and quit.
"If we can keep the quality up," the actor told Vogue, "I can't imagine that I will ever get tired of being Sherlock. I'd love to play him as an old man."
"Sherlock" will be returning with a one-off special that is expected at the end of 2015. The fourth season will premiere after that as the long wait continues. Still, it is great to hear in the man's own words that he'd like to play Sherlock for a while, even if the seasons are as spaced out as the third and fourth; the show is so damn good that it is certainly worth waiting for. And I don't say that about many TV shows these days...
