Although filming wrapped a while ago, details are still hard to come by in regard to Josh Trank's upcoming reboot of "The Fantastic Four." But, the first official synopsis has finally surfaced. Maybe...
An unconfirmed mini-synopsis for the film has been spotted on the movie's Rotten Tomatoes page (via Comic Book Movie), offering up a few enticing details about the mysterious film that has managed to generate mostly hatred and bewilderment among FF fans. It's not confirmed, but with it being a part of the film's official listing, odds are it's probably the real deal.
Check it out below:
"'THE FANTASTIC FOUR,' a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."
Akin to most reboots, they've pulled the "contemporary re-imagining" line out of the bag here, and the Four are oddly described as a group of "young outsiders." That sounds almost like they're pulling the "high school outcasts" trope out of the bag as well. This also offers up some more details on the modified origin story via the "alternate and dangerous universe" stuff, leading to an eventual faceoff with Toby Kebbell's Victor Domashev/Doctor Doom/Evil Blogger.
To those who've been following the development of this flick closely the synopsis also seems to confirm that the storyline will be drawn from the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" arc rather than the classic Lee & Kirby versions of the FF.
