New 'King's Quest' Game Coming, Sierra Founders Ken and Roberta Williams Will Be Honored at Awards Show

In more from the "What's Old Is New" file, it seems that a new "King's Quest" game is coming from developers The Odd Gentleman, and the game will be published under the Sierra label. Suddenly, it feels like 1983 all over again, and I can hear Michael Jackson's "Beat It" playing...faintly...off in the distance.

Anyway, all of this video gaming goodness was announced by Geoff Keighley on Twitter today, and the game itself will be revealed during "The Video Game Awards 2014" this Friday. There will also be a special tribute to the originators of Sierra and the "King's Quest" series, Ken and Roberta Williams. Check out Keighley's tweets below:

According to The Odd Gentlemen, the upcoming "King's Quest" game will be a reimagined take on the long-running series. It's being designed as a puzzle-focused adventure game, although not a traditional point-and-click title. Sierra announced in August that the "King's Quest" game is scheduled to be released in 2015.

You can also check out this brief trailer from the tribute that is planned for Sierra and the Williams's on Friday night. Thanks to the fine folks at Polygon for the tip:
