The two suspects who attacked "The Young and Restless" actor Corey Sligh on Thanksgiving night - leaving him badly bruised and with a broken arm - are facing criminal charges, according to NBC News.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office announced Tuesday that Dusan Lilic and Nikola Ilic were charged with "assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence causing injury, driving with a .08 blood alcohol content causing injury, battery with serious bodily injury and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury."
On Thanksgiving Day, Sligh and his girlfriend Alisa Berhorst, were reportedly on their way to deliver a Thanksgiving meal to a friend working a late shift at a West Hollywood Rite Aid when they noticed two men driving reckless in the parking lot. Sligh said he called out the men for speeding in the parking lot and doing donuts.
"So I just went up to them and said, 'Look guys, they're calling the cops, you guys gotta get out of here.' And then he looked me dead in the eye, and kicked his door open into my chest. So I just started to walk off," Sligh said, according to WLS-TV.
According to the prosecutors, Lilic opened the car door, striking Corey, and then drove the car right into Sligh. The two men got out of the car and began to beat the actor.
"The vehicle drove away, but Lilic and Ilic returned and began beating Sligh, who suffered a broken arm and other injuries," prosecutors said in a statement to NBC News.
If convicted on all counts, Lilic will face a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison and Ilic will face a maximum sentence of four years. Both men were arraigned Tuesday in Los Angeles and entered not guilty pleas. They are scheduled to go back in court on Dec. 22 for a preliminary hearing.
Sligh was released from the hospital on Sunday morning. He told The Wrap that he does not hold any grudges against the men and just wants to return to acting.
"People can be cruel, but I'm not going to worry about it," he shared. "I'm just trying to get back to normal. Just trying to get back to acting. I have no hatred for these guys. I'm happy to have the problem of relearning to walk instead of not being able to walk at all. I'm pretty blessed."
