Cory Matthews will welcome his little brother Josh for the holidays on Friday's episode of "Girl Meets World." Not to be left out, big brother Eric, played by Will Friedle, also has plans to make an appearance on the Disney Channel spin off.
Friedle, who played the eldest Matthews son on "Boy Meets World," will guest star in a season two episode that's filming now, Headlines & Global News confirmed. The episode is titled "Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels," a reference to Eric's moniker Plays With Squirrels that he gave his future self in a seventh season episode of "Boy Meets World."
"Girl Meets World" invited all the original cast members of the ABC series to reprise their roles if they wanted before the show began. Friedle previously stated he had no plans to appear on the spinoff.
"I will only be involved in the show as a fan," he told Mashable in October. "I know rumors got around that I would be joining, but I have no plans to be on right now. Who knows what will happen -- if there is a reunion show, I would go and be with everyone, but Ben [Savage] and Danielle [Fishel] will be great introducing it to a new audience."
The episode will also feature "Boy Meets World" stars Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) and Williams Daniels (Mr. Feeny) as seen in a photo tweeted by Savage. Shawn along with Cory and Topanga (Fishel) will head to Feeny's house "to retrieve something from the past," the "Girl Meets World" writers told TVLine.
Daniels appeared in the "Girl Meets World" premiere, although as a figment of Cory's imagination. Rider will make his first appearance on the show in the upcoming holiday episode that airs on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
Cory's best friend Shawn, brother Eric and mentor Mr. Feeny "will be an important part of Season 2," accordng to the writers. "Lives will change. People will grow. People won't."
"Girl Meets World" will also welcome another star from the original series next season.
"Another member of the original cast will also join us this year," the writers said. "There will be an announcement about it. That is all."
"Girl Meets World" is in the middle of its first season on the Disney Channel and airs on Fridays at 8 p.m.
