An intoxicated man who recently attempted to steal sausages from an Austin, Texas meat processing business was caught after falling asleep mid-burglary.
Intruder Ricardo Cardona, 28, was caught on surveillance camera at Hudson Meats trying to break down the front door for about 20 minutes. He walked into the 40-degree meat cooler and took a few pieces of sausage before realizing where he was, reported The Associated Press.
As Cardona was about to leave, he went back inside the building to grab a coat. Before making it out of the building, Cardona made himself cozy and fell asleep in the back office.
When the next day's employees entered the office at 7 a.m. and saw Cardona sleeping with his legs kicked up on the desk, they contacted Austin police.
"We were really just surprised by what actually happened," Scott Grumbles, general manager of Hudson Meats, told KXAN-TV.
Cardona woke up from his nap when Austin police arrived at the scene to arrest him, and he was charged with criminal trespassing.
Cardona apparently told police that he had been out drinking that night and probably entered the building because he was cold.
Hudson Meats' insurance paid for the front door that Cardona broke when he entered the building.
