Fallen legend Bill Cosby tweeted a thank-you to fellow comedian Whoopi Goldberg after she stood up for him on the daytime show "The View," according to Gossip Cop via MSN.
Cosby has, for the most part, refused to discuss the serial rapist allegations, but his career is in shambles: tour dates have been cancelled, reruns of "The Cosby Show" have been pulled, the Netflix special "Bill Cosby 77" has been postponed and appearances have been cancelled.
After Barbara Bowman discussed her alleged rape on Good Morning America, Whoopi Goldberg questioned Bowman's statement that a lawyer told her that no one would believe she was raped by "Dr. Huxtable." "Perhaps the police might've believed it," Goldberg said, according to Gossip Cop. "Or the hospital. Don't you do a kit when you say someone has raped you?"
Fellow "The View" host Rosie O'Donnell commented that a settlement made by Cosby with a previous rape accuser is "curious," but Goldberg defended the actor's action to settle. "I can speak to settlements," Goldberg responded, according to Gossip Cop. "Settlements don't necessarily mean you're guilty. You generally settle because you just don't want to put your family through it again, you don't want to keep going through it again and again and again."
"Quite honestly, look, I'm sorry, having been on both sides of this where people allege that you do something - it doesn't matter now," Goldberg continued, according to Gossip Cop. "The cat's out of the bag, people have it in their head."
"I hope that there is justice for this lady, I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this, but I'm going to reserve my judgments because I have a lot of questions," Goldberg stated, according to Gossip Cop. "You have to really take a minute and follow the evidence - follow what happened. We'll know when we know. That's what I know."
Cosby later tweeted "Thank you @WhoopiGoldberg," hours after he was sued by a 55-year-old woman who claims she was molested by Cosby when she was a 15-year-old at the Playboy Mansion, according to Gossip Cop.
