Microsoft Adds Bing Image Search to Sway App to Make Finding Content Easier

Microsoft announced Thursday that it has added Bing Image Search to its Office presentation app Sway to make it easier for users to find photos.

The change follows two months after Sway made its debut as a tool that allows creative types to use text, pictures, and videos from different devices to create presentations, according to VentureBeat. To obtain content, users simply click it and drag and drop it into their Sway. They can get photos and videos from OneDrive, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other built-in cloud-connected sources.

With the update, users can now search images from Bing and add them to their collection in the app. The Suggested Source feature, which looks for pictures based on content already in the app, has also gotten an upgrade that includes Creative Commons licensed photos.

Bing Image Search results come with a URL to the source, which lets users go to the original image and review licensing terms so they know whether it's usable, VentureBeat reported.

The "Search all results" button gives users a chance to expand their searches. Those you've shared your Sway with can tap included images to look at in full-screen mode, and they will be able to see their sources and applicable license terms.

The app can remember what you've typed in the past, with suggested searches providing tags for related words and phrases for you to click or tap to perform searches, VentureBeat reported.

Microsoft said the Bing integration is only the first update involving "machine learning and intelligence" it plans to make to Sway in its goal of providing a more personalized experience with the app.
