Beauty blogger Zoe Sugg broke the record of the fastest selling book of the year when she published "Girl Online" on Nov. 25.
Sugg, who is more commonly known online as Zoella, sold 78,000 copies of her book in one week. This is also a new record for a first-time author.
"It's such an amazing feeling. I'm so grateful to everyone who has bought a copy of Girl Online. I love that so many of my viewers are enjoying the book! This year has been so exciting and this for sure is the icing on the cake," Sugg said to The Guardian.
Sugg, now 24, started her blog in 2009 when she was only 14-years-old. She started her blog when her interest in reading beauty blogs inspired her to write one of her own. Her first posts were basic product reviews about things that she liked. As her blog gained popularity she expanded to other topics including fashion, life stories and occasionally some controversial and health subjects.
"Girl Online" was targeted towards her teenage demographic. The novel is a story about a 16-year-old blogger who blogs her teenage feelings about boys, friends, school and other issues. The teen's thoughts are protected under her online alias Girl Online until she falls in love with a boy from New York.
