The Giudice family plans to spend their last Christmas together before matriarch Teresa heads to prison in January for 15 months.
"This Christmas, the focus isn't going to be on presents," a source told E! News. "It will be on family and togetherness. Teresa is savoring every moment she has with her girls right now."
Teresa and her husband Joe, who heads to prison after Teresa, will celebrate the holiday season with their four children Gia, Milania, Gabriella and Audrina. The girls have asked for some extravagant gifts this Christmas but their mother has made them aware that Santa may not bring them everything on their wish list.
"Teresa explained this year will be different and spending money is not what Christmas is all about," a source told Page Six and added the family will be "cutting back" as best they know how. "She thinks backing down from a $1,200 pair of shoes to a $400 pair is rouging it. So there's a real disconnect."
Teresa may want to spend her last few weeks of freedom with family, but that doesn't include her brother Joe Gorga and his wife Melissa, who co-stars with Teresa on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" and is her frequent foe.
"While most people would want to spend their last Christmas home with all of their family, Teresa has been extremely vocal about the fact that she will not spend the holidays with Melissa or Joe," an insider told Radar Online. "Truly, she can't stand them, and wants no 'last holiday' memories to be made with them."
The reality star will surrender herself on Jan. 5, 2015 at the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury, Connecticut. The correctional facility serves as the inspiration for the fictional prison on the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black."
"She doesn't feel sorry for herself and doesn't want anyone feeling sorry for her, but she has a lot of sadness," another source told E! News. "She's sad over her family who she has let down, the friends she has let down and the fans she has let down."
While in prison, Teresa may begin divorce proceedings against her husband Joe. The two were both convicted on 41 counts of fraud that allegedly earned them $5 million over 10 years. Joe was sentenced to 41 months in prison and may face deportation back to Italy since he does not have U.S. citizenship.
"Teresa is livid with Joe for putting her in this position so she is fed up and going to send him the divorce papers and tell him to sign them while he is sitting in cell- or else!" a source told the Daily Mail. "Teresa depended on Joe too much to take care of the family and now she is paying for it!"
Teresa's post-prison plans include returning to her "Real Housewives" series on a part-time basis (the show has been delayed until 2016) and a new cooking series on Bravo. "Watch What Happens" host Andy Cohen will have the first sit-down interview with the "Fabulicious" author after her release in 2016.
