Baby Sharks Saved From Dead Mother By Emergency C-Section

When an American family went on vacation to Cape Town, South Africa they probably weren't expecting their itinerary to include saving three baby sharks in an emergency c-section.

The family was walking down the beach during their trip to Cape Town when they discovered a dead shark washed up on the shore, reported Fox News. The shark's stomach was wiggling, suggesting to the family that the shark could have been pregnant.

Without hesitation the family decided to perform an emergency - ametuer - c-section. Video footage posted to YouTube shows a man with a knife opening the shark's stomach looking for the possible baby shark inside.

"Err...I don't think there's a baby in there," one man said in the video, just before the first of three baby sharks became visible.

As the man retrieved each of the three baby sharks from their mother's stomach he threw them back into the ocean, carefully staying away from its teeth so he wouldn't get bitten since sharks are born with a full set of teeth.

When sharks are born they are normally left by their mother to fend for themselves in the ocean.
