As Ryan Reynolds waits for Fox to confirm him as Marvel Comics' Deadpool in the upcoming solo movie, the actor will continue to tease fans on Twitter with creative art projects depicting the red masked mercenary.
He posted a Twitter pic that shows the face of Deadpool made out of spent bullets and shell casings. He captioned the photo, created by artist Mike Oncley, "Uh... It's Chimichanga Time." The deep-fried burrito is the character's favorite food.
Reynolds first portrayed the Marvel character in the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Fox has had a solo Deadpool movie in development for years and officially slated the film for a 2016 release earlier this fall. The 38-year-old actor has not signed a deal to star in the film, but it's a forgone conclusion at this point.
Test footage of the actor as Deadpool, shot a few years ago, leaked in late July and again sparked conversation about the film. Reynolds also added his two cents about the status of the film at that time.
"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role,'" he told the Niagara Falls Review in September. "It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."
Reynolds last suited up as superhero in "Green Lantern," the much-maligned movie for Warner Bros. The studio plans to recast the part for its upcoming slate of DC Comics films.
"Deadpool" will open in theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
