San Diego Courthouse Calls In Bomb Squad For Sex Toy

Government buildings must stay ever vigilant to their surroundings in this post-9/11 world. Every stray bag must be checked and every suspicious device found on the premises investigated.

A San Diego federal courthouse took immediate action when someone found an unidentified metal object in the courtyard around 10 a.m. on Dec. 4, according to KGTV. The area around the courtyard was roped off and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department was called in.

The aluminum egg-shaped device was attached to an electrical cord and found in the patio west of the Edward J. Schwartz U.S. Courthouse by bomb squad investigators. They found the device posed no dangerous threat because it was a sex toy, according to spokesman Lee Swanson of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The team determined a box attached to the device controlled the settings.

Law enforcement opened the area back up to the public within an hour. No one stepped forward to claim the device.
