Bono's Band Mate, The Edge, Reports The U2 Singer And Activist Has To 'Lie Still For Two Months'

U2 frontman Bono has been instructed to lie still for two months, so he can recover from his bicycle accident in Central Park, New York City in November, according to Philly.com.

The band has had to pull out of recent performances after Bono fractured his left arm, shattered his elbow, hurt his back and damaged his eye socket, according to Philly.com. A week of performances on The Tonight Show was cancelled and Bono was replaced by Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen at the World AIDS Day concert in Times Square on Monday.

U2's guitarist, The Edge, told KROQ that Bono is recovering in Dublin, Ireland, but will need weeks before he'll be out and about again. "He actually showed us an X-Ray a couple of days later, and it looked like a miniature of the Eiffel Tower was in his elbow," The Edge told the radio network.

"The same had to happen with a fracture of his pinky (finger); the joint there was totally messed up, so that needed a bone graft," The Edge continued. "And the most vulnerable was actually his upper back, the scapula, because they couldn't put any plates in there or they decided not to do surgery."

The Edge jokingly added: "We're kind of lucky he was wearing a helmet so he didn't actually break Central Park. He's made of tough stuff, and he's bouncing back."
