Carry-On Bags to be Banned During Holiday Travel Season? (VIDEO)

A National Public Radio report states a ban on carry-on luggage had been a subject under discussion by United States counter-terrorism officials for the holiday travel season, according to CBS News.

A Transportation Security Administration spokesperson told CBS News it's "not anticipating any further changes in the carry-on bag policies."

TSA also said adjustments can and will be made to keep travelers safe. They also said checked luggage goes through a more rigorous screening process, and a bomb is more likely to be detected there.

According to both travelers and industry experts, a ban on carry-ons would cause some concern for flyers and is probably unlikely to happen.

In a written statement, a TSA spokesperson said, "DHS will continue to adjust its security measures to ensure the highest levels of aviation security without unnecessary disruption to travelers."

Talks about a carry-on ban happened after a British newspaper reported several bomb plots on United States commercial planes headed towards Europe, International Business Times reported.

U.S. officials acknowledged the threat, but said the plot did not seem to include U.S.-bound flights, according to NPR.

The pre-holiday attack plots are what is causing officials to discuss a ban on carry-on luggage.

A TSA official told CBS that it's "not anticipating any further changes in the carry-on bag policies."
