Massachusetts investigators released on Friday the photograph of a woman believed to be the victim of a 33-year-old unsolved murder in the hopes that someone from the public can identify her, WCVB reported.
The photo, found in the possession of a convicted murderer, shows a young woman with blond hair sitting in front of a barn-like structure holding what appears to be a bouquet.
Police in Chelmsford, Mass., believe the picture was taken in the area between 1979 and 1981- the same year the body of an unidentified woman was found in Arizona, WCVB reported.
The body, which had blond hair, was discovered in a drainage wash in April of 1981 in Tuscon. Investigators suspect she had been dead for two days before she was found. The victim was a little more than 5 feet tall, weighed about 100 pounds and had a white spot on her front tooth which could have been noticeable to those who knew her, police told the station.
John Kalhauser, a convicted murderer believed to have knowledge of the Arizona murder, had the photo in his possession but refused to tell investigators her identity, police said. During the time the photo was likely taken Kalhauser lived in Tyngsboro, located in Middlesex County, Mass. Chelmsford is located in the same county.
Those with information about the woman in the photograph are urged to contact Chelmsford police at (978) 256-2521.
