It's clear that 2014 has been a really good - no, great - year for Dierks Bentley. He's racked up back-to-back platinum singles and garnered a Grammy nomination for his No. 1 album, "Riser."
His "I Hold On" track has been certified platinum this week by the RIAA, signifying sales in excess of one million copies, according to The Boot. The song was the second single from his chart-topping album titled "Riser." Another song from the album, "Drunk On A Plane," was certified platinum in September of this year, making Bentley one of only three country artists to earn two RIAA certified platinum and No.1 radio singles in 2014.
Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line are the only other acts to earn two platinum songs in a year feat in 2014.
Of his hit "I Hold On," Bentley acknowledged, "I've said from the beginning, if you want to know who I am in three minutes and thirty seconds, play this song. The fact that country radio and the fans got on board for this one and that I'm getting such great feedback to the entire album is so overwhelming."
Cindy Mabe, president of the singer-songwriter's label UMG Nashville, said, "When Dierks played us the 'Riser' album for the first time, we knew it was something special. But having two back-to-back No. 1 platinum hits within a year shows the real power of how Dierks' music has resonated and how he's connected with the fans."
When the Grammy nominations were announced early Friday morning (Dec. 5), Bentley's "Riser" earned a nomination in the best country album category.
