Missing Girl Found Safe In Washington

A 15-year-old girl from Washington has returned home after going missing on Thanksgiving when she went to look for the family cat, the Daily News reported on Monday.

Jackie Doucette walked home, holding a different cat, on Saturday morning. She hadn't been seen by friends or relatives for nine days.

"Jackie is safe and with the authorities," Jackie's mother, Liz Doucette, told KXLY.

The girl is said to be in good health, but is being interviewed by police, Cheney Police Sgt. Rick Beghtol said.

Jackie has medical conditions that could make her more vulnerable, especially after being away from her medication for many days. Police don't usually get involved in runaway cases, but did for these reasons.

Her decision-making ability may have been impaired from not taking her perscriptions for over a week.

"Without the medication she can make poor choices," Chief John Hensley, of the Cheney Police Department said.

On Thanksgiving night, Jackie went missing after she went outside to look for the family's two cats.
That caused a rift between her and her family.

The girl had disappeared before, but not for such a long period of time, and would often be in touch with a close friend while she was away.
