Walgreens is pulling a wrapping paper print from its shelves after an upset shopper said she found a swastika-like design on wrapping paper for sale in the Hanukkah section of a store.
Cheryl Shapiro was shopping at a Walgreens in Northridge, Calif., when she said she noticed swastikas in a wrapping paper pattern.
"I had no idea what to do," Shapiro told NBC 4. "First I called my rabbi because I didn't know what to do and it was before Shabbos was over and I couldn't get in touch with him. And I just called the manager and the assistant manager and they came out and I explained what was going on and how upset I was and I waned this taken off the shelves immediately. I was really putting my foot down because I was appalled by this."
Her persistence proved effective, as the company announced it is pulling the wrapping paper.
"We are in the process of removing the product from our stores," Walgreens spokesman Phil Caruso told NBC4.
The spokesman would not comment on the design or give a number on how many rolls were being removed in total.
