'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': George Lucas Confesses to Not Seeing New Trailer

In an admission that should really surprise no one, "Star Wars" franchise creator (as well as director of four of the previous six installments) George Lucas revealed to Page Six he has somehow avoided the 88-second teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which has been watched over 72 million times since its release just over a week ago.

"I don't know anything about it," Lucas admitted. "I haven't seen it yet."

He said he expects to see "The Force Awakens" footage when it's complete and part of a finished film.

"I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there," Lucas said. "I plan to see it when it's released."

The seventh installment in the "Star Wars: franchise marks the first time Lucas hasn't been directly involved in a storytelling role; he serves as consultant to the J.J. Abrams directed film. Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.06 billion.

Lucas also admitted he's "not really" curious to see what Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan have created for this new film.

By making this rather public statement of indifference it seems pretty clear that Lucas has bilked his billions out of the franchise (and the fans), and has moved on to making wine or whatever he's doing with himself these days out on his Napa Valley ranch.

Have fun with the grape stomping, Georgie Boy, "Star Wars" fans no longer need nor want you. And as long as you stay out from behind the camera, I think the franchise will be just fine without further input from you.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens on Dec. 18, 2015.
