College Basketball Rankings: Kentucky Unanimous No. 1

The Associated Press released its most recent edition of the Top 25 Men's Poll yesterday, and the Kentucky Wildcats remain in the No. 1 spot. But this time, they were a unanimous choice.

Kentucky (9-0) received all 65 first-place votes. Syracuse spent two weeks last season as a unanimous No. 1. Kentucky might just be better.

Duke, Arizona, Louisville and Wisconsin filled out the remaining top five. Virginia, Villanova, Texas, Gonzaga and Kansas make up the latter half of the top ten.

The Badgers slipped from No. 2 to No. 5 due in large part to an 80-70 loss to Duke. The Blue Devils (8-0), leapfrogged Arizona (8-0) and Wisconsin. Arizona, meanwhile, stayed unbeaten with a 66-63 overtime win Saturday against No. 9 Gonzaga.

Kansas (6-1) climbed into the top ten thanks to a comeback win against Florida.

"I think it showed that our guys were pretty resilient, pretty tough," Kansas coach Bill Self said Monday. "We found out a lot of things. It's a long game. Defensive rebounding can keep you in the game even when the offense is laboring. I think we showed some toughness there, no question, in the second half."

Utah (6-1) enjoyed the biggest bump, moving up 12 spots to No. 13 by ending then-No. 8 Wichita State's 35-game winning streak in the regular season.

Michigan (No. 17), Arkansas (No. 18), Michigan State (No. 19) and Illinois (No. 24) were all dropped from the rankings.
