The "Downton Abbey" cast took the stage at New York's Hudson Theater Dec. 8 for a Q&A following the screening of 40 minutes from episode 1 of the new season. The session provided insight into what happens during the TV series' season five, and it revealed the cast members' perception of the show's fans - in America and in Great Britain.
The cast feels that American fans are much more enthusiastic than the Brits in showing their love for the show, according to Show Biz.
"Here people constantly tell you much they love. In the UK they'll cross the street to tell you what they don't like," explained Robert James-Collier, who plays Thomas.
Participating in the Q&A were cast members Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), Robert James-Collier (Thomas), Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), executive producer Gareth Neame and historical advisor Alastair Bruce. The moderator was Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of George W. and Laura Bush.
While watching most of the new season's first episode before the Q&A, some interesting things were revealed.
For example, "Lady Mary discusses premarital sex with Anna, Lady Edith pines for her child and Maggie Smith's Violet starts a social chess game with Penelope Wilton's Mrs. Crawley," Show Biz reported.
