'Titans': Geoff Johns Confirms 'Teen Titans' Show Coming to TNT, Starts Shooting Next Year

It has been reported for some time that a "Teen Titans" live action television series titled simply "Titans," was in the works for cable channel TNT. Supposedly, "Titans" will star Nightwing/Dick Grayson as the lead and, of course, feature other well-known "Teen Titans" characters like Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and Aqua Lad.

DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, who's developing the project (among many others, it seems), for DC Entertainment was asked about the status of the series via Twitter, and Johns tweeted back, confirming that lensing on the "Titans" series will begin next year.

The full Twitter exchange between Johns and fan Kyle Reis is below. Thanks to DC Comics Movie for the tip:

"Titans" certainly has the potential to be a cool show...if handled properly. There were several successful, animated versions of "Teen Titans" characters and stories on Cartoon Network over the years, and I'm betting this new show will be following the "Young Justice" model, which was more mature and gritty for sure. The one thing I would definitely like to see is Robin's/Dick Greyson's evolution into Nightwing, rather than just having him start off as Nightwight in the show with little to no explanation. I'd also hope to see some version of my favorite "Teen Titans" story arc from the comics, "The Judas Contract," but that may prove difficult because Slade Wilson/Deathstroke has been used in other DC TV properties, specifically "Arrow."

Stay tuned for more on "Titans" as it develops.
