The Brooklyn Nets appear ready to make a drastic change: Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson all reportedly are on the trade block, creating the possibility of a blockbuster trade happening this season. Brooklyn and the Philadelphia 76ers, meanwhile, have simultaneously reopened trade talks for Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Ohm Youngmisuk.
Brooklyn's blockbuster acquisitions for last season failed to led the Nets to the promised land, and this season doesn't look much better. Seemingly facing an inevitable rebuild, Brooklyn reportedly is willing to part ways with their big-name talent for assets to use in the future.
Per Stein and Youngmisuk:
"The Brooklyn Nets have begun reaching out to teams to let them know that former All-Stars Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson are available via trade, ESPN.com has learned.
"League sources told ESPN.com that the Nets, off to a disappointing 8-11 start and looking to retool after last season's $190 million roster filled with veterans couldn't advance beyond the second round of the playoffs, have let it be known that they are prepared to move any of those franchise cornerstones in what would likely be separate deals if they came to fruition because of the high salaries each possess.
"Sources say no trade is imminent involving any of the three players."
Williams is due $21.04 million next season before rolling into his early termination options; Johnson is due $23. 18 million this season and $24.89 million the next; and Lopez is due $15.71 million this season and $16.74 million the next.
Nets veteran Kevin Garnett would also likely be included in that list, but the no-trade clause in his contract prevents the Nets from dealing him without his consent.
Williams's value is hurt by his contract, his injury history and the saturated 1-guard market, but Johnson and Lopez - especially when both are healthy - could command a draft pick for a team willing to spend.
Kirilenko, who's been out of the rotation for weeks now, is also on the trade block. ESPN reported the talks between Brooklyn and Philadelphia have restarted.
