Ty Herndon Walks First Red Carpet With Gay Partner, Admits He Hears ‘Wedding Bells’ And Maybe 'Giggles Of Children' in The Future

Ty Herndon is embarking on another first.

Last month, he came out as gay. Now, he has made his first red carpet walk with long-time partner Matt Collum. The two strolled the red carpet together Dec. 7 at The Trevor Project's TrevorLive benefit at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

The two showed up to the event holding hands, according to People magazine.

"I looked at him and said, 'You know, once we walk this carpet, you're totally gay,'" Herndon joked to People.

The singer acknowledged that he has been with Collum for five years. He added that coming out last month "was the last piece of the puzzle to be authentic."

"It's my first big red carpet with Matt," Herndon told E! News. "The first time I've ever done a carpet with someone I've been with for a long time. [It's] fantastic."

And are Herndon and Collum making wedding plans?

"That's the next step for us, of course," he said, smiling. "Wedding bells in the future."

And what about having kids?

"I don't know. I'm getting on up there," laughed the 52-year-old crooner. "It's not impossible. It's not out of my mind."

Herndon, who is now on tour with Andy Griggs and Jamie O'Neal, revealed that things have really been positive for him since coming out.

"The crowds have been sold out. I've walked out to standing ovations."
