California Protestors Continue To March For Fourth Straight Night

Angered protesters fighting against the trend of white police officers killing unarmed black men marched for the fourth straight night in California.

"As white people, we are outraged by the constant and ongoing violations against black people's lives from Ferguson to Oakland to San Francisco to Cleveland to Staten Island," Jason Wallach, of Showing Up for Racial Justice, said to The Associated Press.

On Tuesday night, the fourth night of the protests, at least 19 people were arrested, reported SF Gate. The destructive protests also caused a city council meeting to be cancelled, which protesters were planning on attending.

Mayor Tom Bates told protesters, many of who showed up at City Hall even though the meeting was cancelled, that he would investigate their local police force, reported AP.

"I recognize that under great stress abuses can occur in even the best departments," Bates said in the statement. "I support a full review of our response to investigate any improper use of force and also to learn lessons we can apply in the future."

Although Tuesday night's protests continued to be disruptive they were much calmer than Monday night where over 250 people were arrested and are now faced with bails of up to $50,000.

It's unclear how much longer the protesters will be in the streets. In the meantime, the city is trying to communicate that the protester's message was understood by the city.

"The CHP respects the public's right to gather and demonstrate, but it needs to be done in a safe manner," Ernie Sanchez, assistant chief of the CHP's Golden Gate Division, said to AP. "At this point, they've made their statement, and we respect that. Now we're asking them to stop."
