New York looks to avoid a series sweep by Oakland. The Athletics, meanwhile, can extend streaks of 10 straight home wins and six in a row at home over the Yankees with a win on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Oakland could have the services of center fielder Coco Crisp, who missed the game on Wednesday with a bruised heel.

"He felt better when he got to the park and got some treatment," Athletics manager Bob Melvin told reporters. "We won't take any chances with him but if he comes in and feels like he's close to 100 percent, there's the potential for him to play."

Oakland's been on a roll lately. They've gone a league-best 20-5 since May 17, leading the AL-West with a 40-27 record. The club also posted an AL-best 2.54 ERA in that stretch, including a 1.50 ERA during their streak at home.

Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker (5-6, 4.68 ERA) can continue the streak Thursday afternoon when he takes the mound. A win against the Yankees will win him his fourth straight start. He's played well against the Yankees, going 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA in two career starts against New York.

It helps that Yankees slugger Robinson Cano is 0-for-6 against him.

Hiroki Kuroda pitches on Thursday for New York. Kuroda is in the middle of his longest winless stretch as a Yankee, going 0-3 with a 5.23 ERA in his last four starts. Kuroda's only win in Oakland came last May 27 - the last time the Yankees beat the Athletics at home.

Ending their season-high five-game drought without a homer should help the Yankees avoid a series sweep.

"It's part of the game. You have to fight your way out of it," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters. "We know the guys are capable."
