A homeowner shot attempted burglars on Thursday, the second time this week someone in Topeka, Kan., shot people trying to break into their home, CJ Online reported on Thursday.
The incident left two people wounded at around 1:30 a.m. Police were called after reports of gunshots in the area.
A call was received from the homeowner as police were heading to the scene, and the caller said that he had shot two people as they were trying to get into his home. The alleged burglars then fled the scene, according to WIBW.
Shortly after, another call came in to police from Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, saying that two people who had been shot were just admitted to the emergency room.
The home where the attempted burglary and shooting occurred is in a one-story duplex on the north side of Topeka.
This is the second time this week someone had been shot by a home occupant in Topeka.
On Monday, another home occupant shot a man while he was in the process of breaking into his home. The occupant heard noises downstairs, and when he went to investigate, he was hit in the face by a brick as it flew through the window on the back door.
The man who was shot Monday is said to be in stable condition. The home occupant suffered a broken nose and was treated at a local hospital.
