Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber: She Still Has ‘Love’ And ‘Respect’ For Her Ex

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber will end 2014 separated, but the on-again, off-again couple share no hard feelings. At least Gomez doesn't.

"I definitely have so much respect and love for him," the 22-year-old singer told NRJ radio in Norway on Dec. 11.

She then explained the message behind her song, "The Heart Wants What It Wants." Many have speculated the song is about her relationship with Bieber.

"And going in the studio is just very therapeutic... It was my way of having it be a message more to people in general. People everywhere feel this feeling, and they should understand when anybody goes through that," Gomez said.

Gomez gave an emotional performance of the hit single at the American Music Awards. She opened the song with a recording of her talking about a lost love (most likely Bieber) and then changed the lyrics at the end of the song, simply repeating "I thought you were the one."

The former Disney star also revealed that she's single at the moment and she "doesn't even know how to work" the dating app Tinder. Recent reports have Bieber linked to model Hailey Baldwin.

Gomez avoided giving an answer to Bieber's recent dye job. The "Heartbreaker" singer recently bleached his hair.

"That's for him. I'll let him answer all that," she said.

Gomez released her greatest hits album "For You" with two news songs, including "The Heart Wants What It Wants," on Nov. 24.
