Scott Stapp's wife called police in a panic on Wednesday claiming that the Creed frontman was threatening to kill President Barack Obama. According to TMZ, Jaclyn Stapp and her sister talked to a 911 dispatch operator begging them to put Scott back in a psychiatric facility.
The two women said that Scott was riding around the neighborhood on a bicycle without a shirt ranting that he was a CIA agent whose mission was to assassinate the president. Jaclyn also said that he had a backpack containing at least 400 pages supposedly from the CIA and a number of tools including a screwdriver, a hard drive and a wrench.
"I love him, and I want to see him get better," Jaclyn said in the audio. "But I just need law enforcement's help. That's the only way he's gonna stop - when he hits rock bottom."
The women also alleged that Scott was "off the drugs." In late November, the 41-year-old singer was placed in a temporary, involuntary psychiatric hold at his wife's request. She ordered him to receive treatment after Scott posted a bizarre video telling fans that he was broke and living in a motel.
"Right now I'm living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God, because there's been a couple of weeks I had to live in my truck," he said in the now-deleted Facebook video. "I had no money, not even for gas or food. I went two days without eating because I had no money and ended up in an emergency room."
"I don't understand why all this is happening to me," he continued. "I've been harassed, I've been stalked, my name and reputation has been slandered all over the internet. Obviously, God has a reason for this; I'm maintaining my faith."
According to TMZ, police decided not to place Scott in a second psychiatric hold because they felt like he "did not show enough signs of mental instability to warrant a psych hold." The site also reports that the singer placed his own 911 call shortly after his wife did telling the operator that Jaclyn had stolen his truck and "pilfered" $6 million from him.
