Severus Snape grew up on Spinner's End near his childhood crush Lily Evans and her Muggle sister Petunia, but J.K. Rowling never revealed the exact location of Snape's hometown in the "Harry Potter" series.
Fans who correctly answer Rowling's first riddle at Pottermore.com will uncover the unnamed city where several scenes take place in the seven-book series. The revealing tidbit is the first of 12 that the British author will publish each day between Dec. 12 and 23 on the website.
The riddle reads: "In a house on Spinner's End, a meeting takes place, a mother begs help for her son, tears on her face. Agreeing to help, though he doesn't know how. Which potions master performs an Unbreakable Vow?"

Spoiler Alert!
It was Severus Snape and the meeting with Narcissa, the mother of Draco Malfoy, that took place in Cokeworth, a town in England. She and her sister Bellatrix Lestrange met with Snape in his parents' old house in the factory town at the beginning of "The Half-Blood Prince."
The passage gives a little more information about the town and Harry Potter's other connection to Cokeworth besides his mother Lily growing up there.
